Time before forfeit on 1st move in tournaments

The last couple of months of tournaments I've played here I've experienced lag on and off. This has sometimes caused me to not get sent right away to new games when they are starting, and/or not be able to move the pieces right away either due to lag. Being sent late to games/not being able to move quickly has caused me to be forfeited right before I make my first move quite a few times. If the time was extended to 25-30 seconds I don't think lag would cause players like me to get forfeited.
+1. Some time ago, the first move restriction was 30 seconds, which was changed for some reason. I never knew why.
I've never expierienced that kind of a lag. Maybe you have something with your browser, some spam viruses or something.
That's weird that it was changed. Glad some people agree with me. There are always going to be people with lag, even just from having Pandora/Youtube playing and not closing their other tabs. The real issue is people should have enough time to start their game if they're experiencing a little bit of lag.
Also I'm not always sent to a new game when a new game starts. Sometimes I have to click a button saying "you're in a tournament game" or something to that effect, to get to the new tournament game. I would hope that could get fixed.
On a related note, could we get a button to start the clock so we can use more than 15 seconds on the first move without forfeiting?

In standard chess this would of course not be very useful, but it could sometimes be helpful in thematic tournaments and especially in 960.
#1 - #3 I don't know what kind of "lag" is longer than 15 secs. You must have other problems with your internet connection than lag.

That's a really good remark!
I too have had that problem... forfeiting a few times where it didn't pop up the game window.

I wonder why this non-mover thing only gives you the win in tournements.... it's amazing to me how many people don't move after starting a new game on the opening page.

I can understand them aborting if they wish to play someone with a higher or lower rating but it seems they are content to waste other peoples time, or select the black/white random mode but only want to play a certain colour maybe.

So my suggestion would be that non-movers in that area also concede the game.
It Should be at least 30 second for variant tournament i think. Because we are faced with an unusual position. Thanks.
