In AA they taught me that I have to have a higher power, and that I was powerless over alcohol.

So I guess my higher power would have to be alcohol

In germany we have an excellent philosoph called Kurt Flasch.
His recent book about the devil and his angels shows how the humans in past build the image of a devil.. he asks interessting questions like: where do people in past have the knowledge about the devil from?
there are more than 10.000 types of religion..
and Kurt Flasch said in one of his books to christian religion:
"I don't make use of this hypothesis"..
For me religion is not much more than a hypthesis which many people follow. But this makes the hypothesis not better.
Even if there is one or more gods (smart to try it more and more with one god instead of many.. to many logical conflicts with several gods.. ..if you "lie" keep it simple ;-) ) nearly everything you know about it or contact from is build from human..

Please keep religion out of here. It's just asking for trouble. It only takes one ignorant person to write something dumb and this thread will go nuts.
