Literally noone chatting?

Hey community,

more or less after every game I shout out a gg, handshake or congratulate my opponent for winning or anything and I while I don't expect a response it's a bit dazzling that maybe 1 of a hundred answers. Maybe less. That rate seems a bit low.

Anyone has got an explanation for me?

Thanks, cheers,

aescht

It is difficult, I have been very chatty, but now I am not so sure it is a good idea.

Sadly
Guys, there's a time to play and a time to chat. When I'm going to play I am concentrating on chess moves.

What I have learned: saying or replying nothing is certainly not the worst.
I imagine the explanation is they have chat turned off or they left the game just as you sent your chat.

I used to always say something like gg or hi or both and I dont recall people not replying.
But I got a few really rude people so I have chat always off now.
I've found that encouraging others to attempt communication is often a bad idea.
I try top open every game with a "good luck" or "have fun" comment, but usually people bail as soon as a game ends and I can't thank them for playing. I used to chat in all my long games. I even learned about the bi-annual living chess game in Marostica from someone in Italy. It was one of the things I enjoyed about playing games on Lichess. Unfortunately I stopped chatting after I had someone get creepy asking about my age and location. In fact when I refused to share my age the asked 4 or 5 more times before I checkmated them and left the board. Since then I just ignore chat unless I'm playing someone I know personally, usually coworkers.
When I say "hello" "have fun" I usually get an answer, maybe you're muted..
