For many years, chess was just a pastime, nothing more. Then the inspiration: I read Averbakh-Bejlin’s chessbook for beginners. Exciting, engaging, well written. Since then, chess has became another thing for me. I can well say that this book got me into chess, in all its aspects: the game, its history... even champions’ biographies ( from Morphy to Fischer, from Steinitz to Kasparov ).
Afterwards, I studied others chess books, all for beginners or little more advanced because my level is still low. Those were inspirational too, somehow.
