Many years later I found out that Heinrich Heine had already immortalised the same idea in a poem in 1851:
"Happiness is a light harlot,
And doesn't like to stay in the same place;
She brushes the hair from your forehead
And quickly kisses you and flutters away.
Mrs Misfortune, on the contrary
Holds you close to her heart;
She says she's in no hurry,
Sits down by your bed and knits."
