When I look on my ping at the main Lichess page, it shows ping about 250-300ms.
snag.gy/ExNK9b.jpgBut when I go on this page,
http://en.lichess.org/lagit shows number from 63 to 80.
snag.gy/bKOSlM.jpgThe socket connection on the front page is overloaded with seek messages, these needs to be parsed, sorted and rendered onto the page. The initial ping time is also wrong due to averaging, the number stabilizes after a while.
An example of what is sent over 2 seconds
it might look calmer in the list view, but that's because it only shows 14 rows.
To see your real ping with Windows os you can go to Command prompt and type
ping
lichess.orga more detailed view of your ping would be tracert
lichess.orgThat doesn't help.
Here is my results:
sent and received = 82.
0 pocket loss.
min = 74 ms, max = 81 ms (this was just once, all other values were 74 and 75), average = 74 ms.
Sometimes things are very good: I don't lose any time when playing. My time is 30.0, 30.0, 30.0, 30.0, 30.0, 30.0, etc, if I premove first moves.
But sometimes, usually in evenings I can lose immediately up to 400ms for a single premove. It looks like: 30.0, 29.8, 29.4, 29.4, 29.4, 29.4, 29.3, if I premove everything.
But cmd command shows that my ping is very stable.
So I was wondering if that has something to do with that on the main page the number of ping is much bigger, exactly which could explain up to 400ms time losses.
