#39 I agree with you, except in the case stated which is my pet peeve. There's really not much to be learned by pushing the king around the board 10 or 15 times waiting for an inevitable mate after you're behind by a queen and several pieces and your king is in the middle of the board. Seriously people, don't listen to Granmpa Toscani kids, just resign. ;)
kudos to the site designers, they finally solved the problem of people accidentally clicking on variant games by listing separately "variant" in the list. it seemed to have worked, i now have much less if any aborted games!!
